Table of Contents

If you were a teenager in the early '00s, you might remember the manicure magic that shattered nail polish. The grunge effect had a hold over Y2K nail art, accentuating—or (in some opinions) ruining—the undercoat with a textured black design. Now, a new type of nail art science is taking off, blossom gel nail polish nail polish. It essentially creates the look of Lava Lamp nails without a lot of nail art expertise.

Introduction to Blossom Gel Nail Polish

Blossom polish is a special formula of clear gel polish that affects gel polish colors that are added to it causing them to spread out and bloom.

And Blossom gel nail polish is used in blossom gel nail polish nail art.

The technique involves applying a translucent formula onto the nail before following with the colorful design of your choice, applied while the first layer is still wet. The result (very literally) creates a blossom effect as the color spreads and settles. As satisfying as it is to watch, it's only a matter of time before this technique goes totally viral.

Nail artists always start off Blossom gel nail polish nail art with two layers of a cured base coat color. Then, add one coat of blossom gel nail polish all over each nail. While it's uncured, they paint on different gel polish colors in whatever shape they want. The colors will float around the blossom gel nail polish. Once they're pleased with how the gel polishes moved around atop the blossom gel nail polish, the nails are cured.

BLOSSOM GEL NAIL POLISH (also known as flower gel or Blossom gel nail polish) is the basis for creative, almost "self-painting" nail designs. With this transparent nail art effect gel, you can (in combination with soak-off gels or gel polishes) easily create small pieces of art, such as uniquely realistic flower patterns. The gel is the base on the fingernail, in which the desired color gels flow into unique patterns. You can use every soak-off gel and gel polish as a color gel.

Benefits of Blossom Gel Nail Polish

    Stunning Blossom Effect

Use blossom gel nail polish to effortlessly create nail designs such as marble, natural stone, watercolor, floral print, tie dye, gradients, and more! Create fancy, interesting, and elegant nail art in seconds.

    Easy Application

Blossom gel nail polish suits all nail art systems. Apply blossom gel nail polish before color gel, then use a nail art brush to bloom out any effect you like.

Speed Curing with UV/LED Nail Lamp

The blossom gel nail polish polish needs to be cured under LED/UV light for about 60-120 secs.

    Experiment with color and design

Blossom gel nail polish polish is incredibly versatile, allowing you to experiment with color and design ideas. This is because gel polish is much easier to apply than regular polish. It is much easier to apply layers to create your design, as each layer can be cured, so is fully dry, before applying the next layer. You can use bold and bright colors, metallic, and truly express your personality.

How do I apply Blossom gel nail polish?

1.Always begin by prepping your nails. Use the Nail File to file your nails to the desired shape.

Push back your cuticles. Gently buff your nails with your Nail Buffer. Clean your nails with a Cleanser Wipe.

    2. Start by applying one coat of Blossom Base Coat in white to your nails and cure for 60 seconds under your LED lamp.

    3. Apply a second coat of Blossom Base Coat - but this time do not cure.

    4. Using a dotting tool or a very thin nail art brush, take some blossom gel nail polish in your chosen color (we've gone for red) and place 5 dots in the top left-hand corner of your nail.

    5. Repeat by placing a further five dots in the bottom right-hand corner of your nail.

    6. Apply random dots in between the flowers to fill the empty space. Remember that less is more: you don't need to apply much Blossom gel nail polish as it will expand and 'blossom' once it hits the nail.

    7. Once finished, cure your design for 60 seconds.

    8. Apply silver glitter (this can be gel polish or gel paint) in the middle of the flowers. Cure for 60 seconds.

    9. Finish with your top coat and admire your design! You can repeat the process for all nails if you wish, or use your blossom gel nail polish design for a feature nail on each hand and use matching gel polish for your other fingers.

Can I Use Any Polish as My Nail Art Colors?

You can use any gel nail polish you like. All UV gel polishes have different formulas and different consistencies so some brands may work better than others. You'll have to experiment to see what works best for your gel polish and blossom gel nail polish combination.

You can get different effects by using other UV gel products like spider gel and gel stamping polish.

How Do I Remove Blossom Gel Nail Polish?

    1. Trim off any extra nail length with a nail cutter.

    2. Buff off the shiny top layer, and avoid buffing your natural nail bed.

    3. You may remove your blossom gel nail polish along with the medium underneath by soaking your nails in acetone. You may opt to use the Foil Method or the regular Soak Off Method.

    • Foil Method

Thoroughly soak a cotton ball in acetone. Afterward, place it over your nail and tightly wrap your nail in aluminum foil. Do this for each finger and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Lastly, remove the foil, and gently rub the cotton ball along with the foil on your nails.

    • Soak Off Method

Pour acetone into a small bowl and soak your nails inside for 15 to 20 minutes. If excess polish remains, soak it in for another 5 minutes.

    4. Buff, Shape, and Nourish

    5. Lighty buff the surface of your nails. Afterward, shape your nails with a nail file and create your desired shape. Then, nourish your nails with cuticle oil.

Some Designs with Blossom Gel Nail Polish

Below, we've rounded up all of the blossom gel nail polish manis that left us awestruck this year.

    These 3D Thermal Tips

For this heat map-inspired French mani, Nguyen layered two-tone orbs in two separate colorways with clear, textured droplets.

    This Auric Mani

This mani's bold palette takes a colorful cue from James Turrell's light installations.

    These Tri-Tone Nails

The asymmetrical orbs in this mani look similar to the center of a geode rock and were inspired by Canadian artist Kiki M.

    These Reptilian Nails

More is more (is more). This maximalist mani dials up the drama with abstract, asymmetrical reptile scales. Life's too short for boring nails.

    This Slinky, Snake Skin Mani

Evidently, the most ethical way to wear snakeskin is on your nails. This mani pairs black with an earthy shade of green, the de facto mani color of the year.

    This Faded Croc Mani

Yes, croc nails can be understated. The faded effect of these reptilian tips gives them a frosty edge, with extra room for inconspicuous grow-out.

How Can I Do Marble Nails at Home?

Marble nails are maybe the most simple and trickiest nail art to master--mainly because the design relies on the lines appearing random and that can be hard to do. It's also easy to overwork your design and have it turn out muddy.

Blossom gel nail polish simplifies things but it still takes some practice to get over the learning curve so don't get discouraged I highly recommend practicing on swatch sticks.

Marble has many different looks from striped to patchy and you can achieve both with different techniques.

    Striped

First, apply the Blossom polish over a light base color.

Using a small nail brush or striping brush, go in with your darkest color gel polish, like black, first and begin to draw thin, random lines.

If you like, add stripes in lighters colors, like grey, and allow them to spread in the gel.

Brighten up your design by adding very thin white lines directly across the darker areas.

You can use the same techniques above to create geode and agate nails

    Mottled

If you want something a little less stark you can start your design by adding a mid-tone color with a larger brush to create a mottled appearance before streaking in your "veins" of color.

What Other Nail Art Can You Do with Blossom Gel Nail Polish?

Two more quick ones: roses and snakeskin.

For roses draw thin half-moons, turning so they overlap without touching like the petals of a rose, starting very small and working bigger and bigger.

For simple snakeskin, use a dotting pen to add dots of your pattern color in a grid pattern with the center vertical line being larger than the other dots. It will spread out to look like scales.

    Conclusion

Blossom gel nail polish polish is a special type of gel that encourages polish colors you paint on top of it to spread.

You apply a layer of blossom gel nail polish and without curing it you paint the gel color using a brush, straight onto the blossom gel nail polish in the desired shape. That's when the magic happens.

Blossom gel nail polish has a mind of its own, sometimes you want it to look a certain way and it decides to look completely different. Either way, the outcome is always amazing and you have to expect to not be able to do the exact same blossom gel nail polish design twice.

The common thread that tied together the nail art that we couldn't stop double tapping and DMing our nail techs this year was blossom gel nail polish. When I got my first blossom gel nail polish mani this year, my mouth was agape underneath my mask. With just a swipe of the clear gel on top of your regular base coat, your polish can 'bloom' in a way where dots expand, but don't bleed.

so just have a try and Get ready to watch them blossom in front of your eyes.
